The Adult and Community Services Directorate Print E-mail

Adult and Community Services Directorate Lancashire County Council The Adult and Community Services Directorate (A&CS) was formed in 2005, from the merger of social care services for people over 18 with a number of cultural and community-oriented services. The Directorate is made up of inter alia social care for older people (65+), social care for working age adults with mental health problems, learning disabilities, physical disabilities or sensory impairment, support for carers and adult learning.
What brings these different component parts of the Directorate together is a commitment to improving wellbeing for the whole community; wellbeing in this case referring to a much wider policy agenda than simply health promotion and prevention. Our services should enable people to take more control of their lives; should deliver better outcomes for people through improved partnership working and should take a 'whole community' perspective of health and social care issues.
